Board of Directors

Andy Maton, Chair

Andy has been a professional actor, director, and producer for more than 30 years, and as such, brings a wealth of experience in the Canadian Arts and Culture industries to Vancouver Concert Opera Society. He has served on a wide variety of Boards, including as Vice-President of the Association of Canadian Television and Radio Artists, Westcoast Actors' Society, Canadian Memorial United Church, and Knob Hill Community School, among others.

Andy is also a Certified Project Manager, and has driven projects as diverse as major residential and commercial renovations to Programming and Events for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics Athletes' Village.

Paul D. Carter, Secretary/Treasurer

Originally hailing from Newfoundland, this graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland has now called Vancouver home for the past 17 years.  With over 25 years of experience in Business, Information Technology and Financial Management Systems, Paul's career has been part of an extensive range of industries. He has gained considerable experience in many industries such as not-for-profit, airlines, pharmaceutical, higher-education, government and crown corporation projects, Public-Private Partnerships, and rapid transit projects.  His understanding of business processes, technology and project management rapidly put him in demand, and he has owned and operated a Management Consultant practice since 2003. Being part of VanCOCO is an exciting opportunity to bring that expertise to a new and thrilling chapter for the Society.

Susan Freedman, Director-At-Large

Susan’s 40 years of work in Communications includes: 7 years with The Bay as a Copy Writer and Editor; 16 years with CBC in Calgary and Edmonton as Producer, Executive Producer, Manager of Communications and Director of Radio; and 4 years as Marketing Director of the Vancouver Fringe Festival. Since 1999 Susan has written, performed and produced three successful one-woman shows at Fringe Theatre Festivals across Canada.

Susan has served on the board of Solo Collective Theatre for 6 years and looks forward to bringing her broad range of experience to Vancouver Concert Opera Society.

Colleen Tracy Torrison, Director-At-Large

Colleen has held CEO and Executive Director positions for most of her career since graduating from UBC. In semi-retirement she maintains a Management Consulting Practice with a focus on management systems, business processes, project management, human resources and governance. Colleen has served as Chair and Executive member on several non-profit Boards throughout her career and she continues to be an active volunteer. Colleen also has experience with property management and non-profit start ups. Her hobbies satisfy her love of the Arts, construction, and travel.

Andrew Tilston, Director-At-Large

Andrew's experience base ranges across 16 years of operations, sales, and marketing management in various roles in organizations ranging in size from a few people to Fortune 500's and he is currently the Director of Sales and Marketing for a software firm based out of Germany with responsibility over the North American marketplace. In the past, Andrew has served in director positions for various non-profits and has worked for many years with younger people in various instructor and leadership roles. As a result, Andrew brings a business-oriented viewpoint to the Vancouver Concert Opera Society and has been supporting this vibrant organization since its inception as a patron, mentor and volunteer.

Teresa Bobrowska, Director-At-Large

With a Master's Degree in Economics from Central School of Planning and Statistics (Warsaw, Poland), Teresa has had a rewarding career in the Information Technology industry. Since leaving the "professional work forces" in 2006 she has been fortunate enough to focus on her personal interests. A keen supporter of classical vocal arts and piano, she has served as a Board Member for The Vancouver Chopin Society for the last 15 years, is an active member of the Vanouver Opera Club (15 years), and is an on-going subscriber to Vancouver Opera. A proud supporter of young and emerging artists, Teresa and her husband, regularaly host "Recitals in Practice" in their private music studio attached to their home in North Vancouver.

AGM

Our first 2012 AGM was held on Wednesday, January 30th, 2013. Our next 2013 AGM will likely be held early in 2014.

REGULAR MEMBER - is 18 years of age or older, and supports the purposes of the Society. As a regular member you have the right to notice of, to attend, to speak, and to vote at general meetings. Annual Fee $10.00

SUPPORTING MEMBER - is a corporation, association, or other organization, whether or not incorporated, that supports the purposes of the Society. A Supporting Member has the right to notice of, to attend and to speak at general meetings. Annual Fee $150.00
